De LUMC Alumni Vereniging is in 1996 opgericht om enerzijds de band tussen het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum en zijn alumni te versterken, anderzijds om de band van de alumni onderling te versterken.

Na één bachelor en twee masters aan de Universiteit Leiden, sloot alumnus Filosofische Perspectieven op Politiek en Economie Matthieu Agustoni zijn studententijd af met een knaller: hij kreeg zijn masterscriptie gepubliceerd in een prestigieus tijdschrift.

Het flitsinterview van deze maand is met alumna Sytske Besemer, criminologe, die werkt bij Cradle, een start-up. Sytske heeft bewust gekozen om te werken in het bedrijfsleven, maar dan wel bij bedrijven met maatschappelijke impact. En ze staat op het punt (weer) te verhuizen, dit keer naar Zürich.

Alumni-activiteit

Onderzoek naar depressie bij kinderen, Leidse alumni in de Tweede Kamer en een uitzonderlijke afstudeerprestatie van een van onze studenten: wat deze onderwerpen gemeen hebben? Ze staan centraal in onze best gelezen verhalen van 2021.

De alumniofficer onderhoudt het contact met de alumni van de Faculteit der Rechtsgeleerdheid en houdt zich bezig met de organisatie van facultaire alumni-activiteiten evenals het faciliteren en ondersteunen van de afdelingen en de studieverenigingen en disputen.

Op 10 november 2021 verdedigde Carmel van Niekerk-Jacobs het proefschrift 'Realising the right to reproduce with assistance in South Africa'. Het promotieonderzoek is begeleid door prof.dr. J.J. Sloth-Nielsen en prof.dr. T. Liefaard.
